DUPLICATE PHOTO OVERLAP– There is a ghost image on the front of the Michigan driver’s license, and it is colored in black and white. The ID is underneath the lacing, and you can see the lace lines on top of it. The ghost ID has the photo’s background as well.

RAISED DOB – The date of birth above the ghost image has touchable letters and numbers. They can be felt when a person’s fingertips slide over the text. MICHIGAN STATE SEAL

A large state seal is printed in UV ink on the front of the Michigan ID and Driver’s license. It is close to the middle of the card and directly printed over the HEIGHT text.

Laser-engraved letters on the card’s front side – The letters MICH are printed with a laser on the Michigan fake ID cards, but they are not viewable in plain sight. If a bouncer or bartender decides to check this detail, they will need to put a light behind the card. Then the letters will shine through.

Hologram of bridge printed in the middle of the card – Next to the photo ID, there is a hologram print of the Mackinac Bridge. It is designed the same way as the bridge at the top of the card. The holograms that we print are just as detailed and match the state card.

How to spot a fake Michigan ID

The UV features are not printed correctly or are missing

Black lights are used to check on UV images in nightclubs and bars. If the UV image doesn’t match the one on the state-issued card or it is missing entirely, the ID checker will know it is fake. One other problem with a UV image is that if they are printed with too much ink, they can be visible without a blacklight.

The background image does not look not the correct design

On the license, the entire background is covered in guilloche lacing. Because of its very thin layered design, the background is hard to replicate. If the lines look off or the other symbols are not placed correctly, then it is a poorly made fake ID.

The edges of the Driver’s license are peeling

If there are many images and types of ink are used on an ID, then fake card makers will have to add more layers on their cards. This might cause the fake card to become thicker than the state-issued one, and it will peel at the edges, especially if it’s not laminated correctly. The photo ID could peel as well if it were not placed down correctly.

What are Michigan Laws Regarding Fake IDs?

Bartenders and bouncers are granted by law the ability to confiscate fake IDs whenever they encounter them, so any underage person who is using a fake ID needs to make sure their card is practically indistinguishable from the state-issued one.

Even though people who confiscate IDs can report them to the police, doing this is more hassle than it’s worth. It is common for ID checkers to collect the ID and add it to their pile of fake IDs. So if you are IDs confiscated, you don’t have to be paranoid that the cops are coming for you.
